There is no better quarterback in the NFL than Josh Allen, and a recent rankings put together by Jeremy Fowler via executives, coaches, and scouts proves it. He was ranked as the top quarterback heading into the 2026 season, and while you can never rule out guys like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and a healthy Joe Burrow, Allen is better than all of them at this point.

Without Allen, the Bills would not be the powerhouse that they have been since the 2020 season. In his first two seasons, Allen had a lot of ups-and-downs, but had a ton of promise. Then in 2020, everything clicked and he quickly rose as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

The way that Allen plays the game makes him so valuable because he can throw it down the field in the cold weather, he can pick up huge yards with his legs, and he can even catch a pass or two that land him in the endzone.

From 2020-2023, Allen had a No. 1 receiver in Stefon Diggs in which that combo was unstoppable at times. But then once the Bills traded Diggs in 2024 to the Houston Texans, the next two seasons showed Bills fans the true greatness that Allen put on without a go-to receiver. He won the MVP award in 2024, scored 6 total touchdowns in multiple games, and ultimately put the team on his back in crucial moments.

From 2020-2024, in each season, Allen scored 40+ total touchdowns. That is just unbelievable. And last season, he scored 39 total touchdowns.

As long as Allen is in his prime, he will be one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and to ever play the game. However, Bill Barnwell from ESPN recently put together a piece on the players on each team that would be worth a first round pick. Barnwell's projection for Allen shows that he is nearly untouchable, as Barnwell said Allen's trade value would be 7 first-round picks.

ESPN places Josh Allen's trade value at historic 7 first-round picks (and that still may not be enough)

"QB Josh Allen. Let's start with the most significant and impossible valuation in the league. Allen, who just finished atop Jeremy Fowler's poll of league executives as the league's best quarterback, has been a superstar for the Bills over the past six seasons. He has done it without anything resembling an elite receiver, all while adding significant value with his legs on scrambles and designed runs." said Barnwell.

"Having just signed a new contract a year ago, Allen isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If he did suddenly hit the trade market, though? Teams would be competing against each other to acquire enough first-round picks to satisfy Buffalo's demands for what would be a historic deal." Barnwell added.

We see big time players get traded all the time. It happened just last month when the Cleveland Browns traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams which included a first-round pick and young edge rusher Jared Verse. However, Allen’s value that Barnwell has stated shows us how much a team would have to give up for the future to acquire Allen.

Trading one, or even two first-round picks is already a hefty price. Trading 7 would be absolutely shattering across the league and in sports across the world.

Luckily, Allen wants to be in Buffalo and he is beloved by the entire Western New York community. He shouldn’t be leaving anytime soon and because of that, as long as he is playing great football, the Bills’ Super Bowl window will always be open.
