Josh Allen's all-around protector overlooked in recent RT power rankings

How about look at the production rather than just the name?

One of the strongest units for the Buffalo Bills last season was their offensive line. They were healthy and protected Josh Allen very well (only allowing 14 sacks) which helped him earn his first MVP award. It was clearly the best protection that Allen has had since being drafted to the Bills.

From left to right, you have Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, and Spencer Brown. The entire line stayed healthy for the majority of the season and they are a key component as to why the Bills averaged 30+ points.

All of them are coming back for 2025, and Brandon Beane needs to find a way to keep this group together beyond this upcoming season. Specifically, Beane needs to act fast and extend Connor McGovern.

One player that has really stepped up the last two seasons is right tackle Spencer Brown. His first two years with the Bills? Very forgetful with injuries and lack of development. However, he has really established himself as one of the best in the game. At the same time, not everyone recognizes that as Brown is still being overlooked.

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently ranked the NFL’s top right tackles going into the 2025 season and for some reason, Brown was left off of it. Instead, players like Taylor Moton (Panthers), Zach Tom (Packers), Brian O’Neill (Vikings), Lane Johnson (Eagles), and Penei Sewell (Lions) all made Scataglia’s list.

Bills' Spencer Brown is one of NFL's top right tackles

I agree that Sewell and Johnson belong in the top five. Maybe O’Neill as well. However, Brown has a strong argument to be at No. 4 or No. 5 without a doubt. He was already a proven run blocker when he got to Buffalo, he just needed to improve his pass protection. Over the last two seasons with Bills’ offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, Brown has grown a lot as a player and anyone who has watched the Bills will agree.

In addition to Brown playing great football on the line, he is Josh Allen’s true protector as he is usually always the first one to defend Allen if he takes a hard or unnecessary hit. He’s not afraid to step up for his quarterback and that’s a fact.
