Josh Allen had the perfect answer about being an MVP candidate
By Ryan Heckman
Coming off maybe the most entertaining game of the year, the Buffalo Bills may have lost, but this is a team that knows it's still a contender. And, the reason they're a contender boils down to one main, driving factor.
It's all about quarterback Josh Allen. What he's done, this year, is nothing short of spectacular. Prior to the 2024 season, Bills fans saw countless narratives which were written that sent this fan base into an angry frenzy.
We saw everything from the "Josh Allen is the most overrated player in the NFL" to "the Bills are going to regress" to many other negative viewpoints. The bottom line was, this Bills team was getting no love, and The Mafia knew it was unjustified.
Fast forward to present day and Allen has put all of those narratives to bed. He's taken them, buried them and ensured they'll never resurface again. What Allen has done, this season, is the sole reason why the Bills are a contender. He's put this team on his back and single-handedly proven he's the best quarterback in the league, period.
Yes, Josh Allen is a legitimate MVP candidate and should win the award in a landslide
Allen's six-touchdown performance against the Rams last week may have come in a losing effort, but that didn't stop the momentum he's seen behind his name in the MVP race.
During his media time on Wednesday, Allen was asked what being in the MVP conversation meant to him.
“It means your team is in position to make the playoffs and give yourself a chance to win the Super Bowl. That’s really all I care about," the quarterback answered.
More Bills news:
The man has his priorities straight, that's for sure. Allen took the correct approach when answering the question, and although he probably does think it's cool to hear his name in the conversation, he knows the ultimate goal is something this franchise has yet to accomplish.
But, don't let the ultimate goal distract you from this year's surefire MVP.
Say what you will about Saquon Barkley. He's clearly meant everything to the Eagles, but that Eagles team has gotten to a Super Bowl, recently, without him.
The Lions' Jared Goff has a strong case, too, but that running back room deserves credit, as does offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for that system. Speaking of system, Kevin O'Connell has Sam Darnold in the conversation as well.
But, no one has done what Allen has been able to do this year. Game after game, he is the reason the Bills are winning. Game after game, he puts on those "wow" type performances. And, game after game, he reminds the world who the most valuable player in the game is.
