The Buffalo Bills are just a couple hours away from their 1PM kickoff where they will defend their 3-0 record against a winless New Orleans Saints team. Buffalo’s offense has been rolling high the last three weeks and now they get the chance to go up against a Saints defense that is giving up 30 points per game this season.

A major reason why the Bills have been so dominant on offense is because of the service of running back James Cook. He is proving to the Bills that they made the right decision to extend him to a four-year deal prior to Week 1. The offense is better with him than without him.

Cook is second in rushing yards (284) and is tied for the most rushing touchdowns (4) while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. In the passing game, he’s averaging 7.9 yards per reception with 9 catches for 71 yards. He is on pace to have a career-year and make some history as well.

James Cook to continue dominance (and make history) in Week 4

Going into this game, the Saints are allowing over 100 yards on the ground per game and if the Bills can take an early lead, they are just going to be running the ball to close it out. Not only can Cook continue to establish the run, he also has the chance to enter the history book both in franchise history and NFL history.

According to the Buffalo Bills’ PR X account, Cook has the chance to reach 100+ scrimmage yards, which would be the longest streak by a Bills player to begin a season since O.J. Simpson’s nine game streak back in 1975.

In addition, per the Bills’ PR X account, Cook also has the opportunity to become the 4th player since 1990 to start a season with 100+ yards and a rushing touchdown. After a long offseason where there was drama and tension between Cook and the Bills, it’s fantastic to see that with the agreement they came to, Cook has been delivering and he has a high chance to keep up his production against a heavily struggling Saints team.
