There’s no denying that the Buffalo Bills have an issue with their wide receiver room. However, no one can deny the fact that the Bills do have one of the best rushing attacks that is led by a top five back in James Cook.
The former Georgia Bulldog has had a lot of success since his second season in the league, taking over as the starter in the backfield in 2023. He’s rushed for over 1,000 yards in three of his four seasons, which includes this season. He has already set a career-high in rushing yards with over 1,200 yards with five games left in the regular season. He also has 8 touchdowns which is half of what he had last season.
Cook is extremely valuable to this offense whether fans want to admit it or not. There’s only been two wins for the Bills when Cook doesn’t rush for over 100 yards, and just one loss where Cook has rushed for over 100 yards. He’s also averaging over 5 yards per carry. This Sunday, he could be in for a huge day against the Bengals.
James Cook destined for great production vs. Bengals
Cook is averaging over 100 yards per game, and he has a 200+ yard game against the Carolina Panthers. Without him, the Bills offense would be more predictable than it sometimes already is. With the Bengals coming to town, Cook is set up to have a big day.
Cincinnati’s defense is one of the worst in the league, making it two seasons in a row where they are a huge liability. They have no problem scoring on offense, but the defense has been awful. Coming into this Sunday, the Bengals are allowing 153 rushing yards per game which is putting Cook and the Bills a great spot to control the tempo of the game and keep Burrow and co. off the field.
While this game could easily turn into a passing attack from both sides, the Bills have to find a way to attack Cincinnati’s weak run-defense. The more that the Bills can control the clock and allow the defense to prepare for Burrow, the better off the Bills will be in this game.
