The Buffalo Bills held their first joint practice with the Chicago Bears ahead of their Sunday night preseason game at Soldier Field. After a bit of a disappointment in their first game against the Giants, the Bills are looking to gain some confidence and see who the best players are on their roster for the regular season.

One group that will be heavily watched throughout the preseason is the defensive line, in which Brandon Beane did a lot of revamping during the offseason. Whether it was through free agency or the draft, this defensive line should have a great amount of improvement and there was a glimpse of high hope for this unit in Buffalo’s joint practice with the Bears.

Bills' pass rush shines in joint practice vs. Bears

According to Andy Young, the Bills’ pass rush “was heating up in practice today.” Young specifically said that Joey Bosa had a couple of sacks, Greg Rousseau got in on the action, and guys like Landon Jackson and others were creating pressure.

Seeing this progression is great news for Bills fans not just going into this Sunday’s game, but also the regular season. Buffalo’s pass rush has been inconsistent the last few seasons and Brandon Beane knew that, hence why he invested so much in the defensive line. Not to mention, the run-defense has been up and down for many years now.

With acquiring both short-term talent and developing long-term talent, the Bills are hoping that this unit can wreck gameplans for opposing offenses and get the ball back to Josh Allen. While they had a solid practice against the Bears, Sunday night should hopefully give us a preview of what is to come for the regular season.

Not to mention, the Bills have the perfect setup seeing as how they have veterans in Joey Bosa and Greg Rousseau, who can be game wreckers at any point. Then behind them they have young guys like Landon Jackson and Javon Solomon who will rotate in. The edge rusher room has the chance to be one of the best this season, assuming that they can stay healthy.
