Throughout the summer, the Buffalo Bills have had to deal with a bunch of injuries and at one point, the list was just growing. It was getting a little ridiculous to hear about a player walking off the field with trainers. One star player that gave fans a bit of a panic was Pro Bowl left tackle Dion Dawkins, who was dealing with a back injury.

It didn’t seem like it was anything major, but Dawkins did miss some practice time with the injury but according to Joe Buscaglia, Dawkins will be practicing in the Bills’ Friday’s joint practice with Chicago Bears, confirmed by head coach Sean McDermott.

Bills get their Pro Bowl left tackle back ahead of second preseason game

We still don’t know if the starters for the Bills will be playing in this Sunday night’s game against the Bears but if they do, we should expect to see Dawkins on the field protecting the blindside of whoever is behind center.

Buffalo has been dealing with numerous injuries and they are just looking to get out of the preseason as healthy as possible. Wideout Khalil Shakir is dealing with a high ankle sprain and rookie corner Max Hairston is dealing with a knee injury that could set him back from becoming a starter right from the start.

While Dawkins’ injury wasn’t as bad, having your franchise blindside protector not on the field can hurt the progression of the offense. Luckily for Bills fans, Dawkins has been healthy a majority of his career, missing very limited action (sometimes in the last week of the regular season before the playoffs).

The Bills are set to face the Bears this Sunday, but will have a joint practice first so they will become familiar with each other before they battle in front of fans this Sunday.
