With the Buffalo Bills entering their bye week this week, this is a chance for the front office to make a change or two in order to fix their massive issues that they have on defense. Through their six games they have played, the Bills have all sorts of problems on the defense, especially when it comes to defending the run.

The Bills are allowing opponents to rush for 156 yards per game, including allowing both the Ravens and Falcons to rush for over 200 yards. You would think that with all of the turnover the Bills did this past offseason to their defense, this wouldn’t be the case. Unfortunately, it’s become the biggest storyline for the Bills.

It also doesn’t help that the Bills have been dealing with injuries. Ed Oliver missed four games, Matt Milano has been dealing with a pectoral injury, and DaQuan Jones missed the Falcons game after injuring his calf in pre-game warmups.

At 4-2, the Bills have to fix their defensive issues if they want to remain in the Super Bowl bubble this season. At this point, any kind of trade to help stop the run should be their main focus and it’s clear as day who the Bills need to trade for.

Bills need to call Saints to inquire about LB Demario Davis

The Saints sit at 1-5 on the season, coming off a loss against the Patriots. They have been rumored to be sellers before the trade deadline. No one should be surprised if they make a trade or two that involves them gaining draft picks for the future. With the Bills looking to keep themselves in the Super Bowl run, trading for a run-stopping linebacker in Demario Davis isn’t the worst idea in the world.

Bradley Locker from Pro Football Focus (PFF) listed Davis as a potential trade candidate, and the Bills are listed as a potential suitor for the 36-year old linebacker. Here's a bit on what Locker said about Davis:

"Davis has remained one of the league’s ageless wonders in 2025. Even at age 36, his 81.2 overall PFF grade ranks eighth among qualified linebackers. Although keeping up in coverage has proven a bit more of a liability, Davis is still a tremendous run defender, evidenced by his 90.5 PFF run-defense grade and 19 stops."

Davis has 27 tackles on the season so far and has 10+ total tackles in three games. Buffalo needs help at the first and second level of the defense. They are allowing running backs to pick yards before contact even happens. Davis would be able to step in and become a thumper in the middle of the defense.

With Milano dealing with injuries and Terrel Bernard being able to play in coverage, that will allow Davis to do what he does best and stop the run.
