The Buffalo Bills schedule for 2026 has finally been released, and it's loaded with primetime football. Many thought, or even hoped, that the Bills would have some respite from the bright lights, but to no avail. Still, there are worse things than seeing the Buffalo Bills play on Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football, Thanksgiving, or even Christmas Day.
The Bills have as many primetime games and any team in the league. They are tied second, alongside the Cowboys, Chiefs, Packers, and Seahawks. Let's look at Josh Allen's lineup under the limelight.
Primetime matchups for Bills in 2026
Week 2 - Thursday Night Football - Bills vs. Lions
The Buffalo Bills host the Detroit Lions in Week 2, and it's one of the most-discussed games on the Bills' schedule. The first primetime matchup of the Bills' 2026 season, it's also their home opener. The game may be standard, but the opportunity to show off their new stadium on Thursday Night Football is plenty worthy. Still, it's not the most exciting primetime matchup of the season. Not bad, either.
Week 5 - Monday Night Football - Bills @ Rams
In Week 4, the Bills host the New England Patriots in one of the season's most important games. Right after that, Buffalo is on a plane to the West coast, for the Rams on Monday Night Football. It's a brutal doubly-whammy.
It's also arguably the best Bills game on the schedule. The Rams are a thrilling matchup, if the previous meeting is any indication; Getting Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford under the lights makes for a Monday you actually look forward to.
Week 9 - Monday Night Football - Bills @ Vikings
The last time the Bills played in Minneapolis, Josh Allen hurdled Anthony Barr. A lot has changed since then, and Buffalo goes from 17-point underdog to immediate favorite.
This matchup is a great one for narrative reasons, but lacks some of the excitement of the other ones on this list.
Week 12 - Thanksgiving Thursday Night Football - Bills vs. Chiefs
The Buffalo Bills play the Kansas City Chiefs, as they seem to do every season; This time, it's Thanksgiving's Thursday Night Football matchup.
Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes has been the greatest QB rivalry of this generation, but Bills and Chiefs may not be the fireworks matchup it used to be. The Chiefs saw some regression last season, and the Bills investments keep them in contention. The Chiefs have arguably the greatest head coach and quarterback combo of all time, but they're struggling.
This is destined to be a good game in Buffalo, with the intrigue of a Thanksgiving Thursday. But where will these two teams be by midseason? There's too many unknowns to say.
Week 14 - Sunday Night Football - Bills @ Packers
Just two weeks removed from the Thanksgiving night matchup, Buffalo begins arguably their toughest stretch of the season. It begins with a visit to the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers have a lot in common with Buffalo, and both teams will still have something to prove entering Week 14. It's an electric and pretty even meeting - Perfect for the big stage.
Week 15 - Saturday Night Football - Bills vs. Bears
When considering their Saturday slate late in the season, the NFL makes certain to provide a few rest days ahead of the holiday games. For this reason, the Bills play on Saturday night in Week 15, as they host the Bears.
Chicago has a great roster, and the Bills took part of it in the D.J. Moore trade. The story is clear, but the ending is a mystery.
Honorary Primetime Spot: Week 16 - Christmas Day - Bills @ Broncos
The Bills brutal stretch comes to a close here. In preparation for this Christmas game, the league put Buffalo early on Week 14. This is the payoff.
The 4:30pm Christmas Day game may not technically be a primetime spot, but it deserves recognition. It's a standalone broadcast with everyone together at home - There's a huge draw in that.
