Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear helmets.

Josh Allen has been nothing short of heroic for the Buffalo Bills this season, and his superhuman abilities were on full display in the Monday Night Football thriller against the Los Angeles Rams. He was the best player on the field in a game full of superstars.

While it wasn't quite flawless, Allen's Week 5 performance was one to remember for Bills fans.

Josh Allen's near-perfect MNF performance was exactly what the Bills needed

The Rams were clearly focused on defending the deep ball in this game. They ran two-deep looks with man coverage underneath more often than not, keeping a lid on Allen's explosive arm.

The Bills quarterback didn't mind and took what the defense gave him (for the most part). He posted his lowest average depth of target of the season at 8.1 yards. A few of those short passes, including a quick throw to Ty Johnson in the first half, turned into explosive gains.

Allen finished the day with 210 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He wasn't perfect, but he did enough to earn his team its fourth win of the year.

Allen's interception at the end of the first half mirrored his interception against the Patriots. After extending the play with his legs, he fired the ball down the field into double coverage, making it easy on the defender.

When Allen is playing superhero ball, the Bills are going to have to live with these mistakes from time to time. He trusts his arm, even if it leads to head-scratching mistakes at times.

Allen is going to find a way to beat you. He had just 26 rushing yards in Weeks 3 and 4 combined, instead relying on his arm to create explosive plays. But when the Rams limited his ability to throw down the field, he took advantage by running for 121 yards and a touchdown. Defenses can't stop Allen; they can only choose how they prefer to be beaten.

Josh Allen's Week 5 grade: A-

Outside of one costly interception at the end of the first half, Allen was nearly perfect in this game. His willingness to take the short throws and scrambles that the Rams were leaving open for him showed that he will find a way to be productive against any defense. Allen is playing some of the best football of his career and is well on his way to another MVP.
