Grading Josh Allen's performance in Week 8 vs. Seattle Seahawks
By Brandon Ray
Josh Allen has been one of the best quarterbacks this season without question. While he did have a horrific Week 5 performance against the Houston Texans, he has cleaned up his play and has put himself back into the MVP conversation across the league.
He has the Bills rolling at 6-2 and coming off an impressive 31-10 win over a tough Seattle Seahawks team, who play in one of the most rowdy places in the NFL.
Coming into this game, Allen was the only quarterback who had yet to throw an interception this season. For being labeled as a turnover machine, Allen surely was showing doubters that he can keep the ball safe and not play wild to cause unnecessary turnovers. However, that streak came to an end when Allen threw his first interception of the season against Seattle. He had been targeting wide receiver Amari Cooper who slipped which led to an easy pick for Seattle.
The good news is that it was Allen’s only costly mistake for the Bills as the rest of the day went smoothly for him and the offense. There is no better feeling than seeing the Bills pull Allen in the 4th quarter because the Bills are up by so much. Buffalo pulled Allen midway through the 4th quarter and he ended the game going 24/34 for 283 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Josh Allen once again showed that he belongs in the MVP conversation
Despite Amari Cooper only having one catch for three yards, Allen managed to get multiple guys involved in the passing game that ultimately moved the chains for the Bills or got them into the endzone.
He connected with Khalil Shakir nine times for 107 yards, as well as Keon Coleman for 70 yards off of five receptions. Allen even managed to make Dawson Knox look like a great factor in this game with two catches for 50 yards. It also helps that his offensive line kept him well-protected with only being sacked one time.
Allen silenced the crowd in Seattle and did not allow the Seahawks defense to get any momentum against Buffalo’s offense. With as solid as Seattle’s secondary is, Allen made them look silly and made them pay the price for not being ready for this game.
