Geno Smith's Week 8 comments prove Buffalo Bills have best fans in NFL
By Brandon Ray
Week 8 was a tale of two different stories for the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks. The Bills traveled to Seattle in what should have been a hostile environment. Instead, they handled business against the Seahawks with no issue whatsoever. The Seahawks on the other hand heavily struggled on the field and only managed to put up ten points.
Home field advantage was a non-factor for the Seahawks. Seattle is usually one of the loudest places in the NFL. The fans call themselves the 12th man because of how loud and rowdy they can be. However, the Seahawks found themselves being uncomfortable on offense because of how loud Bills Mafia was in the stands.
Bills fans have shown that they travel well with the team. They show massive support and sit through all weather conditions to cheer on their favorite team.
Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had a rough outing against Buffalo’s defense. He finished the game going 21/29 for 212 yards and throwing an interception to defensive tackle Austin Johnson. Smith has played well this season but he could not get anything going against a tough Bills defense.
While he had to deal with the defensive scheme that the Bills displayed, he also had to deal with the rowdy Bills fanbase. In a video per Michael-Shawn Dugar, Smith said that “it kind of felt like we were on the road at times.”
Geno Smith's comments demonstrates the passion Bills Mafia has
There are a lot of passionate fanbases in the NFL. However, no fanbase is like Bills Mafia. They travel everywhere with the team, whether it is down the road or across the country. Seattle is very far away, yet the fans gave the Bills a feeling of having a somewhat home field advantage despite being on the west coast.
This game was important for the Bills. They had yet to defeat a team with a winning record and not only did they defeat Seattle, they beat them down on their own turf. While the team was highly productive, they definitely had some help with the loud noise from Bills fans in the stands.
