With rookie minicamps vastly approaching around the NFL, teams will be looking to see who could have a shot at coming to training camp later in the summer. The Buffalo Bills’ rookie minicamp will kick off on May 8th and one notable player that will be in attendance is former 3rd-round pick wide receiver Jermaine Burton.
Being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round back in 2024, Burton had a ton of talent coming out of college. However, character concerns have been part of his journey and hence why he was ultimately released by the Bengals at the end of last season. Now, he will look to get another shot with the Bills at their rookie minicamp.
Now we have learned that a former brief Bills wide receiver will also be attending a rookie minicamp. According to Ari Meirov, the Green Bay Packers will be having wide receiver Chase Claypool at their rookie minicamp for a tryout.

Former Bills WR Chase Claypool set to make NFL comeback with Packers
Claypool hasn’t played an NFL snap since 2023 when he was last with the Miami Dolphins. Claypool was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round back in 2020, lasting just 2 ½ seasons there before being traded to the Chicago Bears in 2022. The following season, the Bears traded Claypool to the Miami Dolphins and he had little to no impact there.
During the 2024 offseason, the Bills ended up signing Claypool on a one-year deal, but then suffered an injury to which he was released with an injury settlement before the start of the season. Since then, Claypool has been out of the league but is now looking to get back into it with the Packers.
After a promising rookie season with the Steelers (62 catches, 873 yards, and 9 touchdowns), Claypool has not had any kind of success anywhere in the NFL. He’s been traded due to a mixture of lack of production and there were some maturity concerns as well. When Buffalo signed Claypool, he was part of the revamp of the wide receiver room after the Bills traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Yet, he never played a meaningful snap in Western New York.
Again, his time with the Bills was very short and some people may have forgotten that he was a member of the Bills at one point. Now he will look to make a comeback with a Packers team that still doesn’t have a truly defined No. 1 receiver.
