The Buffalo Bills’ bye week is officially over and now they will prepare for an AFC clash against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. They will come out of the bye at 5-1, and were given a lot of comfort room due to the New England Patriots losing on Thursday night to the Chicago Bears.
They got the chance to rest and watch a little bit of football. This week had some very close games that came down to the wire in the early slate games. One of those games took place down in Houston where the Texans and the New York Giants actually went into overtime tied 21-21. The Giants managed to walk it off in overtime thanks to a certain former Bills running back.
Devin Singletary made game-winning play for Giants against Texans
After stopping the Texans on the first possession of overtime, the Giants managed to move the ball well down the field which included a 42-yard run by Cam Skattebo to put the Giants at Houston's 30-yardline. Then on the next play, Devin Singletary made a couple of defenders miss and broke a tackle to take it 30 yards to the house to clinch the win for the Giants.
Ironically, Singletary played for the Texans for a season in 2023 after playing for the Bills from 2019-2022 so he got the chance at a little bit of revenge against one of his former teams. He hasn't been the lead back for the Giants since joining them in 2024. He hasn't had more than 119 carries since being with the Big Blue, but he's managed to stick around to be a complimentary back.
Devin Singletary's game-winning play puts Texans' season more in doubt
The Bills handed the Texans their first loss of the season in Week 1 and showed the entire NFL that Houston's defense was nothing but hype this entire offseason. They beat the Texans 36-31 and put up over 400 yards on them. The Giants also put up over 400 yards of offense on Houston and Singletary helped put them away completely to send them to 2-5.
Buffalo already has the tiebreaker on the Texans, but seeing Houston falling down more as the season goes is great news for the Bills. Even though Houston lost to Buffalo already, if there was ever a playoff matchup between these two, don't think that Houston won't be seeking all kinds of revenge.
I have to admit, the Texans being 2-5 with their horrendous defense was not on my bingo card, but here we are. Either way, it was great to see a former Bill beat the Texans in Houston, especially in overtime.
