Former Buffalo Bills’ defensive tackle Kyle Williams didn’t have a lot of expectations coming out of LSU as a 5th-round draft pick. However, little did we know, he would become a fantastic culture player who played his whole career with the Bills despite only making the playoffs one time.

The six-time Pro Bowler was the heart and soul of the Bills defense for a very long time. Out of 183 career games, Williams was a starter in 178 of them and he finished his career 48.5 sacks, which included one year of having 10.5 sacks as an interior defensive lineman.

He was part of great defensive line units throughout his career as a Bill. Williams was once part of a group that had him, Marcell Dareus, Jerry Hughes, and Mario Williams where three out of the four had 10+ sacks and the defensive overall had 57 sacks on the season.

Williams only saw one playoff game in his career as a Bill and he also played his final season in 2018 with rookie Josh Allen. After that season, Williams called it a career. Now, he is getting back to where it all started for him.

Kyle Williams reportedly accepts defensive line coaching job at LSU

According to Matt Zenitz from CBS Sports, Williams is set to join the LSU Tigers as a coach for their defensive line. Williams is going back to where his career took off.

Williams only played in one true season despite being on the team from 2003-2005. He managed to rack up 46 total tackles (8 of them for a loss), 3 sacks, and 5 pass deflections in his final year in college. His best game in 2005 took place against Alabama where he had seven total tackles including two sacks.

It’s great to see Williams getting into college football, especially with his old stomping grounds. Depending on how he performs, maybe there’s a world where he works his way up into higher positions and even into the NFL. He has demonstrated to have tremendous leadership and because of his journey, he truly represents what it’s like to overcome all the odds.
