No one should be worried about the offense for the Buffalo Bills heading into this season. Now the defense, that is debatable. While Brandon Beane did a lot of work to improve the defense, especially in the secondary, there are still more questions than answers. Until we see what is done on the field, the confidence isn’t exactly high for the secondary.
The depth is there, but the consistent play is what fans are looking for when the games matter the most. This unit has been responsible for giving up big plays and being a big reason why Buffalo has lost games the last few seasons, especially in the playoffs.
While the Bills have an easier schedule than most teams, they are facing some of the league’s best QB/WR duos. Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently created a power rankings list of the top QB/WR duos going into the regular season and there are three of these duos that the Bills will face. One on the road, and the other two in Orchard Park.
Bills set to take three of NFL's best QB/WR duos in 2025 season
Here are the three listed QB/WR duos that Scataglia listed who the Bills will face this season:
CJ Stround/Nico Collins - Houston Texans, Week 12 (TNF)
The Texans and Bills will face each other in Houston on Thursday Night Football later on in the season. These two teams matched up last year in Week 5 where the Texans won 23-20 on a game-winning field goal with :07 seconds left in regulation.
CJ Stroud and Nico Collins connected for 78 yards and a score, but early on in the game, Stroud threw a beautiful 67 yard touchdown pass that put the Bills into a hole early. Collins is one of the best pass catchers in the game and Stroud is a rising star in this league. While he had a bit of a rough sophomore season compared to his first year, he is still better than half of the league’s quarterbacks.
Jalen Hurts/AJ Brown - Philadelphia Eagles, Week 17
I’m still surprised that the NFL decided to put this matchup in late December, but it could be a potential different conference No. 1 seed battle. The defending Super Bowl champs are the team to beat, whether people want to admit it or not. They have the best overall roster from top to bottom and having a Jalen Hurts-AJ Brown combo makes them extremely dangerous.
They may not put up big highlights every single game, but when they do, they are nearly unstoppable. Buffalo’s secondary is going to have a big problem when the Eagles come to town, assuming that the Eagles are healthy on that side of the ball.
Joe Burrow/Ja'Marr Chase, Week 14
Last year’s best QB/WR combo was Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. It’s not even debatable. Chase was the triple crown winner (127 receptions, 1,708 yards, 17 touchdowns) and Burrow had career highs in completion percentage (70.6%), passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43).
Quite frankly, it’s unfair what this duo has done and what they will continue to do as long as they are both in their prime. The Bills have struggled against the Bengals in recent memory, but atleast they won’t have to see them until early December.
