The Buffalo Bills went through a ton of changes this offseason, both on the coaching side as well as on the roster. Once Sean McDermott was fired, there were immediate conversations on what the roster would look like with McDermott now being gone. Typically when a head coach leaves or is let go, roster changes are bound to happen.

Once Joe Brady was hired and he solidified his coaching staff, that’s when the roster started seeing changes. There was a time when the Bills released players like Dane Jackson, Curtis Samuel, and Taylor Rapp in a short span. They were also planning on releasing Taron Johnson, but they managed to trade him to the Las Vegas Raiders.

As for Rapp specifically, he was signed by the Bills in 2023 after spending his four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and he became an eventual starter in McDermott’s defense. He had signed a one-year deal, but then the Bills extended him. He provided versatility, having played at safety and there were times when he lined up in the linebacker box.

However, his tenure in Buffalo didn’t end the greatest as he suffered a season-ending knee injury that landed him on the IR and he only played in six games for the Bills last season. Now, he remains a free agent.

Taylor Rapp listed as potential fit for a 2026 opponent for Bills

Moe Moton from Bleacher Report recently listed seven different free agents who could be considered a bargain for help for teams in 2026, and Moton listed the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential suitor for Rapp.

"Taylor Rapp has valuable experience at both safety positions and in the slot. He played four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and three with the Buffalo Bills, recording 488 tackles (11 for loss), 31 pass breakups and 12 interceptions." said Moton.

"Coming off a down year, Rapp is unlikely to sign a multiyear contract, but the battle-tested defensive back may just need a one-year, prove-it deal to show why he's still a starting-caliber defender." Moton added.

The Bills will play against the Raiders in Las Vegas in Week 6 and while Buffalo should come out of that game with a win, you can never guarantee anything in the NFL.

If the Raiders were to ever add Rapp, they would get a versatile defender who can prove that he can still play quality football. While Las Vegas isn’t expected to do too much this year, it would be a perfect setup for Rapp to prove himself. Not to mention, he would be back with Taron Johnson on the same team in the secondary.
