Over the course of the history of the Buffalo Bills, there have been plenty of great moments that had Bills Mafia fired up. Then there have been moments that left fans and the team in complete disbelief and heartbreak. Even just in recent memory, every year in the playoffs the Bills have had one game where they have themselves a solid game to move, just for them to have something go against them and end their season.
Even with a phenomenal quarterback like Josh Allen, the Bills have yet to reach the Super Bowl let alone win one. Fans are craving for major success before Allen’s prime runs out. There was one season where the Bills could have run the table in the playoffs and make a serious run at the Super Bowl, but Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took that dream away in major heartbreaking fashion.
In case you didn’t see where this is going, I am referring to the infamous “13 second” game between the Bills and the Chiefs that took place in 2022. Former Bills center Mitch Morse posted on X that it took him “over four years to sit down and rewatch the ‘13 seconds’ game from start to finish… wish I hadn’t”.

Mitch Morse reminds Bills fans of major playoff nightmare
It was 2022 and it was another chapter of the Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes rivalry when Buffalo was in Kansas City for the second consecutive postseason. The week prior, the Bills delivered the first ever perfect game in the wild card round against the New England Patriots, winning 47-17. Now it was time to take care of business against the Chiefs.
With two minutes to go in the game, the Chiefs were leading 26-21 and the Bills were facing a fourth-down situation. Allen connected with Gabe Davis to take the lead. Then the Chiefs responded with a 64-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Tyreek Hill. Buffalo would then have just over a minute to go and Allen found Davis once again to give them the go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds left.
Then, the unthinkable happened which left Bills fans in shambles.
The Chiefs drove the ball down the field and tied the game to force overtime at 36 all, and then Kansas City won the coin toss in which Josh Allen didn't have the chance to go again in overtime. The Chiefs drove down the field again where Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce to beat the Bills and break their hearts.
That was the one true season where it felt like the Bills could go all the way. That game was just one of the many fall aparts the Bills had under Sean McDermott in the playoffs, which had led to a coaching change. Fans are now hoping that Joe Brady can change the narrative as the team's new head coach.
