The NFL playoffs will kick off next weekend, but all 32 NFL teams will have to get through Week 18. Some games mean a lot, some mean absolutely nothing. For the Buffalo Bills, they can’t win the AFC East but they are still competing for the best possible wild card seeding. Depending on who you talk to, it could be anywhere between No. 5 - No. 7.

Right now, the Bills would enter as the No. 7 seed. If they lose on Sunday against the New York Jets, they will stay there. If they win, then there is a small chance that they could move up.

The Bills will enter the playoffs and they won’t have to worry about facing the Chiefs or the Bengals, as both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. While there is a chance that maybe the Baltimore Ravens can get in, the Bills have beaten the Ravens twice in the last five postseasons.

However, the Bills have always fallen short in the playoffs. A majority of that time, it was due to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs taking them down. Well, with Buffalo not having to deal with them at all now, there is even more pressure on them, and especially Sean McDermott to get further than they have.

NFL Insider provides insight that Bills fans have been thinking about with Sean McDermott

NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler from ESPN provided some slight insight surrounding McDermott, and how there have been people around the league that have “wondered whether Bills ownership might grow impatient with Sean McDermott if Buffalo doesn’t make a playoff run in a year Patrick Mahomes is out of the postseason."

Whether fans want to admit it or not, McDermott’s time may be running out if Buffalo once again fails in the playoffs. The biggest challenge that they have had in the postseason is no longer there. Even with them being a wild card team, they have the most playoff experience within the AFC.

If the Bills can’t get past a younger quarterback or even a first-time/first-year head coach in the postseason, it has to make fans wonder whether or not the Bills should make a drastic change to get over the hump that they have been falling short of the last five seasons.
