ESPN analyst says quiet part out loud about Amari Cooper, Davante Adams trades

It is already big enough to see a star wide receiver get traded, especially early on in the morning. That’s what happened when the New York Jets traded for Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders less than 24 hours after losing to the Buffalo Bills. The Jets reunited Adams with Aaron Rodgers who spent most of their careers together in Green Bay.

That was the big news of the day within the NFL, right? Nope, the Buffalo Bills entered the chat when they made a big acquisition by trading for wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. The Bills sent a 3rd round and 7th round pick in exchange for Cooper and a 6th round pick.

The Bills needed more wide receiver help than the Jets. However, the writing was on the wall that Adams was on his way out of Las Vegas and landing with the Jets with Aaron Rodgers made too much sense. At the same time, the Bills getting Cooper massively improves their wide receiver room and Cooper steps in as the true number one target.

With both AFC East teams making a splash, it creates a conversation as to which trade was better. Both teams have arguments as to why they upgraded more than the other, but the Bills received high praise from an ESPN analyst with the Cooper trade.

ESPN analyst believes Cooper trade is more impactful than Adams trade

Andrew Hawkins from NFL on ESPN stated that the Bills trading for Cooper creates more of an impact than the Jets trading for Adams. Hawkins made an excellent point about how the Bills can depend on Cooper in big moments, as well as the fact that they kept Cooper away from going to a team like the Kansas City Chiefs.

First, keeping a playmaker away from the Chiefs is always a great move. The Bills have lost to them in the playoffs three of the last four years. Then Hawkins is completely right about the playmaker ability for the Bills to depend on.

Even though Khalil Shakir is a great slot receiver, having him as the number one receiver in the locker room is not going to cut it. Keon Coleman is still getting adjusted to the pros and the fact that Mack Hollins was heavily involved in the offense was a little bit of a problem.

Acquiring Cooper solves various problems for the Bills and now we will get the chance to see how he fits in with the offense with Josh Allen throwing him the ball.
