The Miami Dolphins made a great amount of roster moves on Monday, that was headlined by the releasing of wide receiver Tyreek Hill. In addition to Hill being released, Miami also released DE Bradley Chubb, WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and James Daniels.

With a new regime led by Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley down in south beach, the Dolphins are on their way to a rebuild and trying to clear up cap space and maybe, just maybe, add more draft capital. At the trade deadline last year, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was a coveted trade target including by the Buffalo Bills.

According to Tom Pelissero, the Bills were the highest bidder for Waddle at the trade deadline, but the Dolphins ultimately kept Waddle. The Bills continued on their season without a true No. 1 wideout and it haunted them greatly. However, the Bills will now have the opportunity to revisit a potential Waddle trade considering that Miami is doing a roster overhaul.

Dolphins' roster overhaul sets Bills up to revisit potential trade for Jaylen Waddle

Since being drafted by the Dolphins in 2021, Waddle has been a solid No. 2 option, but has shown that he can carry the responsibilities as a go-to receiver. The Bills are clearly lacking a true No. 1 WR and have been since they traded away Stefon Diggs to the Texans.

In five seasons with the Dolphins, Waddle has over 5,000 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns. In addition, he has also had 100+ targets in four out of those five seasons with Miami. Considering what the Bills have been dealing with at wide receiver the last two seasons, Waddle would be an immediate upgrade.

At the same time, in-division trades are rare. Not to mention, who knows if this new regime in Miami is willing to deal one of their best players to a team in the division, it could make Dolphins fans extremely mad, even though Miami could potentially gain a first-round pick.

Free agency begins next month and maybe there is a chance that the Bills will call the Dolphins again to see if Waddle is available or not. It would be smart for Brandon Beane to do it, but in the end, it will all depend on if Miami is willing to listen to offers, let alone listen to one from a division rival.
