The wide receiver position for the Buffalo Bills had been an issue for the team since they traded Stefon Diggs in the 2024 offseason to the Houston Texans. They have not received the best production from the room overall. While Khalil Shakir has been serviceable and had some breakout games, he isn’t a true No. 1 for the offense.
Buffalo went out and traded for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, reuniting him with Joe Brady from their days together with the Carolina Panthers. Moore gives the Bills a new dynamic for the offense and will help open up the passing game.
Moore is in the middle of his prime and he will play with the best quarterback that he has had in his career. While Caleb Williams certainly has the chance to become a star in the league, he is nowhere near Josh Allen’s level right now. The addition of Moore is great for the Bills, but Dan Graziano from ESPN listed a question that the Bills have to answer: “Is D.J. Moore the receiver Josh Allen needs to elevate the offense?”
"Two years after trading away Stefon Diggs, the Bills are still looking for a true No. 1 wideout.Trading a second-round pick to the Bears in March for Moore, an eight-year veteran with three 90-catch seasons and four 1,000-yard seasons on his résumé, is a move the Bills hope addresses that issue. Buffalo knows what it has in Khalil Shakir, but 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman has been a disappointment, and injuries have kept 2023 first-round tight end Dalton Kincaid from emerging as the consistent receiving threat Buffalo hoped he'd be. Moore will have plenty of opportunity to make a major impact in this offense as the (delayed) Diggs replacement." said Graziano.
DJ Moore has major opportunity to be ultimate difference-maker for Bills
Now that Moore is in Buffalo and with no one else having a huge opportunity to be the No. 1 weapon for Allen, he will be able to show what he can do in an offense that is led by his former offensive coordinator, where Moore had a lot of success early on in his career.
The fact that Moore has managed to reach over 1,000 yards in his career and his best quarterback during those seasons was Justin Fields is unbelievable. Now fans will get to see what he does with Allen throwing him the ball.
