When a team typically trades a draft pick that lands in the first three rounds for a player, the expectation is that the player will produce greatly in an immediate timeframe. That’s what the Buffalo Bills are currently looking at with the trade they made for DJ Moore. The Bills needed a No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen, and traded away a 2nd-round pick for Moore and a 2025 5th-round pick.

Moore is coming off a down year production-wise with the Chicago Bears, but an important factor to keep in mind is that the Bears had way too many offensive weapons. Someone was bound to drop in stats and that happened to be Moore. That shouldn’t be the case at all with him this season in Buffalo.

In eight seasons in the league, Moore has reached over 1,000 yards four times. Now that he gets Josh Allen as his quarterback, you would think that he would be back in that category again. However, Conor Orr from Sports Illustrated listed a bold prediction for Moore in a recent Top 100 bold predictions list that should have Bills fans upset if it comes true.

DJ Moore 2026 prediction will have Bills fans angry if it actually happens

Orr is predicting that Moore won't lead the Bills in receiving, and that instead, Josh Allen will "continue to lean on Khalil Shakir for his most critical throws".

"After Buffalo traded a second-round pick for the former Bears and Panthers standout and guaranteed Moore future dollars, making another attempt at solving the wide receiver room without overcommitting draft capital, Josh Allen will continue to lean on Khalil Shakir for his most critical throws. Moore, 29, will have fewer than 70 receptions in 2026 as the Bills continue to lean more heavily on a run-first offense built around Allen." said Orr.

Shakir has become a go-to guy for Allen for sure, but that’s because Buffalo’ wide receiver core has not been great the last two seasons. Being a slot receiver, Shakir is very underrated but he shouldn’t be the go-to guy on a consistent basis in crucial moments. That’s why the Bills went out and traded a 2nd-round pick for Moore.

With Orr saying that Moore will have “fewer than 70 receptions in 2026”, that would make fans very mad. There’s only been four times where Moore has had less than 70 receptions in a season, and his first year in Buffalo should not be the next one. This trade for Moore puts pressure on the offense to make it show that the draft pick and money that they invested was well worth it.
