The addition of DJ Moore this past offseason gives the Buffalo Bills not just a new addition on offense, but perhaps the missing piece that the Bills have been looking for since Stefon Diggs. The wide receiver position had been a major issue the last two years for the team, and Moore was regressing in production with the Bears since Ben Johnson took over the team.
The trade between Chicago and Buffalo worked out great up to this point, seeing as how the Bears got a second round pick and the Bills upgraded their receiver room with a quality veteran who has experience playing Joe Brady's offense.
Buffalo's offense was already dangerous the last two years without a true No. 1 receiver. Moore should only elevate the unit even more. Sure, it helps that Moore will be catching passes from the best quarterback in Josh Allen, but his connection that he already had with Brady from their days back in Carolina will play a huge role.
DJ Moore thrived under Joe Brady with Carolina Panthers
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report pointed out a big reason why Bills fans should have hope for this season, and that reason surrounds the reunion between Brady and Moore, specifically with what Moore was able to accomplish with Brady:
"Buffalo Bills: Head coach Joe Brady has reunited with DJ Moore, who averaged a career-high 18.1 yards per catch in the play-caller's Carolina Panthers offense in 2020." said Moton.
Part of Brady's journey in the NFL included being the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers from 2020-2021. During that span, Moore managed to have back-to-back 1,100+ yard seasons through the air that included 4 touchdowns in each season. Moore helped the Panthers push the ball down the field, and fans are hoping that Moore can bring that same impact for the Bills.
Buffalo has had a major issue pushing the ball down the field through the air the last couple of seasons. Due to the limited talent and abilities of their receivers, the Bills had to get creative with how they passed the ball. It wasn't always the greatest, and there were times when it was extremely frustrating when they couldn't do anything.
When the Bills traded for Moore, it instantly sparked an upgrade for the offense. Now with Moton pointing out that Moore's career-high in yards per catch, imagine what Moore could do again with Brady with a much better quarterback in Josh Allen. As long as injuries don't get in the way, Moore is set to make his impact for the Bills immediately.
