Any non-Bills fan will tell you about how the Buffalo Bills’ offense lacked the firepower that they needed in order to get over the hump in the playoffs. The biggest criticism was the wide receiver position, but that was a fair take considering that there was no true star there for the last two seasons.
Khalil Shakir was Buffalo’s best receiver on the roster. He is a quality receiver in the slot and he is great after the catch, but he’s not a true No. 1 option. Now the Bills have added DJ Moore as Josh Allen’s new go-to No. 1. In addition, drafting Skyler Bell in the 4th round of the NFL Draft could be a big time steal for them.
Even though the Bills' passing attack hasn't been the greatest the last two seasons, one area that they have thrived in is the rushing attack as James Cook has not only led the league in rushing yards, but also in rushing touchdowns. Now with the upgrades at wide receiver, Buffalo's offense could be unstoppable at times this season.
Bills' offense was already dangerous before WR upgrades
Dan Parr of NFL.com put together a list of predictions in terms of who could be the in the Top 10 in terms of offense, and the Bills came in at No. 2 only behind the Los Angeles Rams.
"Buffalo ranked third last season in OPPG despite being extremely thin at wide receiver, and it’s hard to imagine the crew taking a step back in 2026 after adding DJ Moore to the mix via trade in March, even if Moore’s prime years might be behind him. The offensive line returns intact aside from a change at left guard, and should continue to be a top-10 unit. With Allen and 2025 NFL rushing king James Cook pacing it, the ground game has more than enough firepower." said Parr.
Even though the Bills faced a tough criticism the last two years with the wide receiver position, they still finished third in offensive points per game at 27.1, per Parr. They only finished behind the Lions and the Rams.
So, the Bills were averaging near four touchdowns per game with one of the more below-average receiving group in football, and now they have added a quality veteran in Moore and a promising rookie in Bell...yeah, this offense has the chance to be elevated even more.
With Joe Brady continuing to run the offense with Pete Carmichael Jr., the continuity is still there. Not to mention, Josh Allen is right in the middle of his prime and as long as he is, the Bills are always going to be a threat within the league.
