Free agency officially begins in less than a week and in just two days, the NFL’s legal tampering period will open up and pending free agents will be able to agree to terms with new teams. The Buffalo Bills are going to have to act fast and do whatever they can to improve various needs on their roster.
The Bills have a good amount of pending free agents who may have played their last snap in Buffalo. With a salary cap setup that isn’t as friendly, the Bills are going to have to have a good amount of new faces for the 2026 season.
Last offseason, the Bills had released Von Miller after three seasons and not too long after that, Buffalo struck a deal with Joey Bosa on a one-year prove it deal. Bosa had spent nine seasons with the Chargers and after he was released, he was willing to move across the country and join the Bills to help them hopefully overcome their playoff challenges. Clearly, that didn’t happen.
Bosa played in 15 regular season games, which was great considering the injury history he had in the last couple of seasons in Los Angeles. He racked up 5 sacks which wasn’t anything special, but he did lead the NFL in forced fumbles (5).
He was solid at time this season, but as the season progressed down the stretch, Bosa became disappointing and it feels like he will be gone from Buffalo.
Joey Bosa should be good as gone from Bills once free agency starts
Just in the playoffs alone, Bosa was a non-factor and he was not valuable at all. From Week 12 until the end of the season, Bosa had just one sack and no more than two total tackles in a game. Not exactly great production from a player that the Bills were paying $12.6 million.
Don’t get me wrong, his pass rush was great at times but it wasn’t the reason why the Bills won games in the 4th quarter. In addition, Buffalo has a new defensive coordinator in Jim Leonhard and with an expected change in schemes, it’s best that the Bills move on from Bosa and find his replacement.
The Bills already have Greg Rousseau, but they need someone who can step up as a true pass-rusher. Rousseau is more of a run defender. Javon Solomon is average and Landon Jackson barely played last season. Buffalo is either going to need get help off the edge early on in the draft, or get themselves a veteran to replace Bosa.
