When the Buffalo Bills traded up into the backend of the second round, fans were very curious to see who the Bills were going after. They traded up four spots from No. 66 to No. 62, while also sending a 6th round pick to the Denver Broncos. Buffalo had drafted edge rusher T.J. Parker early in the second, so maybe they were going to go with a linebacker or even go offense and take a receiver.
Instead, they went in a direction that caught fans off guard when they selected Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun. Buffalo didn’t have a pressing need for a starting cornerback, but the Bills did need quality depth and Igbinosun’s playstyle and experience at Ohio State should give Bills fans belief in what he can add to this defense.
It is completely understandable to see fans confused about the pick, especially when you throw in the fact that Buffalo traded up to get him. At the same time, Brandon Beane explaining that cornerback is a premium position makes the pick a little bit more understanding.
Bills fans should feel more confident in Davison Igbinosun pick after recent comparison
Carl Jones from News 4 Buffalo put out a comparison for Igbinosun that should have fans feeling better about the pick. Jones compared Igbinosun to Jaylen Watson, who is a two-time Super Bowl champion and just got himself a three-year deal with the Rams that is worth $51 million after becoming a rising cornerback with the Kansas City Chiefs the last few seasons.
Jones said that Igbinosun reminded him of Watson in terms of being a big corner who is solid in press coverage. The Bills need physical playmakers on the outside of their defense, and Igbinosun certainly provides that factor.
New Bills draft pick Davison Igbinosun stylistically reminds me of former Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson

Big physical corner that is best in press coverage. Not the most fluid athlete or great ball skills. But not a complete stiff either.
I’m not saying that Igbinosun is the Bills’ best draft pick, but he is a solid addition when you look at what his game is on the field, and adding the fact that Buffalo desperately needed cornerback depth. The Bills already have their penciled-in starters with Christian Benford and Maxwell Hairston, but their depth was extremely thin.
Buffalo gets themselves a pushy press corner who is not afraid of contact at the start of the route, and causing disruption is going to help out the pass rush which Buffalo has lacked for many years now. Great pass coverage can lead to sacks, which means getting the ball back into Josh Allen’s hands and not needing him to become Superman to save the day.
