Since being drafted in 2018 by the Carolina Panthers, DJ Moore has been one of the league’s most solid wide receivers in the NFL. When you look at the situations that he has been in with whom he has been catching passes from throughout his career, Moore has been able to reach over 1,000 yards in four out of his eight seasons which is beyond impressive.
When he has been catching passes from guys like Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, P.J. Walker, and young Sam Darnold/Baker Mayfield, Moore still managed to be productive while in Carolina. It also helped that he had Joe Brady as his offensive coordinator.
When Moore was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2023, he got Justin Fields as his quarterback who has been a journeyman since leaving the Bears. However, Moore had 1,364 yards and 8 touchdowns that season. Over the past two seasons, the Bears have loaded up on offense especially with Ben Johnson coming in and there were a ton of weapons to get involved. Moore ended up dropping in production.
With the Buffalo Bills acquiring Moore, they get a new No. 1 target for Josh Allen and Moore gets the best quarterback in the game to throw him the ball. It’s a perfect pairing, and Colin Cowherd from The Herd agrees as well.
Colin Cowherd gives huge praise for DJ Moore-Bills offseason trade
Cowherd talked on The Herd and gave his rankings of the Top 10 NFL offseason additions, and Cowherd ranked the Bills acquiring Moore as the 6th best offseason addition.
“DJ Moore…smart, veteran, durable, tough. I think Chicago’s going to miss him more than people think. I’m not putting him in the Ja’Marr Chase class, but he’s a pro who plays through pain. He’s durable, he doesn’t miss starts, and I think the Bears are going to miss him a little bit.” said Cowherd.

Moore hasn’t missed a game in five seasons…let that sink in. That itself is worth a second round pick. Sometimes the best ability is availability. Moore not missing time in a long time is extremely valuable. Not to mention, he has also had over 100 targets in six of his eight seasons meaning that he can create separation.
It comes down to the simple fact that the Bills had a major need at wide receiver, and they addressed with a proven veteran who knows Joe Brady already, and now gets Josh Allen as his quarterback. Moore joins a contender and he gets the chance to be the No. 1 in the offense. This is going to work out perfectly for Buffalo.
