The final stretch to the Super Bowl begins on Sunday afternoon with the Washington Commanders visiting the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship game at 3PM EST. Then right after, fans will get to watch another Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes battle as the Buffalo Bills take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Two years ago, the Super Bowl has Phildelphia and Kansas City in it where the Chiefs escaped with a close 38-35 win. Then we saw the Chiefs repeat as Super Bowl champs last year when they took down the San Francisco 49ers in overtime. Long story short, it’s safe to say that anyone who is not a Chiefs fans is rooting for Kansas City to be eliminated this Sunday.
The last time the Buffalo and Washington were in the Super Bowl, the faced each other back in 1992 where Washington came out victorious, 37-24. Seeing these two teams, who where not labeled as Super Bowl contenders coming into this season, it would fantastic to see them face off in New Orleans.
You get Josh Allen, a top three quarterback who played liked the MVP of the league this year, as well as Jayden Daniels who has put together one of if not the best rookie quarterback season of all time. Not to mention, it shakes things up a bit for the NFL world for the better.
Each year, we tend to see a familiar team in the Super Bowl. Whether it is the New England Patriots or the Kansas City Chiefs. Since the 2016-2017 season, we have seen either the Chiefs or Patriots in the Super Bowl other than one time (Rams vs. Bengals in 2022). CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco is predicting that we won’t see the Chiefs or the Eagles next month in New Orleans. Instead, he has the Bills taking on the Commanders.
Pete Prisco is predicting the best Super Bowl matchup possible
Everyone has already seen the Chiefs and Eagles in a recent Super Bowl. It’s time for new teams to take the spotlight in the Super Bowl and who else better than the Bills and Commanders. Buffalo was doubted so much last offseason with all of their roster losses and Washington was a bottom two team last year and went under changes at general manager, head coach, and quarterback.
With the way both Washington and Buffalo’s offenses compete, it would be an electric high-flying offensive battle between Allen and Daniels. The last thing we need to see is a repeat of Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts where the game would come down to a bad penalty call that gifts the Chiefs their third consecutive Super Bowl.
