For the second time since the 2021 postseason, the Buffalo Bills are back in the conference championship game but will go up against the team that beat them the last time; the Kansas City Chiefs. No one expected the Bills to get to the AFC championship game in both of these seasons, but here we are. Except the Bills will be looking to get their shot at the Super Bowl.

Kansas City defeated Buffalo 38-24 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score shows. The Chiefs were up 38-15 at one point, yet Buffalo had an early 9-0 lead. Bills fans are hoping for a different outcome.

One of the biggest knocks on Sean McDermott throughout his tenure with the Bills is how he sometimes coaches to not lose rather than just winning. There have been plenty of games from 2017 and on where McDermott’s coaching decisions have cost the Bills. Whether it’s in the regular season or in the playoffs.

Sean McDermott may have just hinted on what Bills need to do vs. Chiefs

Sunday night in Kansas City is going to be electric and it could very well come down to whoever has the ball last. Don’t be surprised if McDermott has to make a crucial call that could either make or break the Bills. However, his latest comments should give Bills fans hope that he will lay it out on the line no matter what. McDermott made the statement “To win, you can’t be afraid to lose” per Mike Catalana.

It’s such a simple statement to make, but it should reassure Bills fans that McDermott might be looking to stay aggressive for all four quarters rather than playing it safe if they find themselves ahead of the Chiefs.

We all know what Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are like in the second half of a game. Once they get going, they are almost impossible to stop. Eventually, he will mess up if he is consistently playing from behind. If Buffalo is up by one touchdown or three, McDermott (while obviously being cautious about player health) must stay aggressive against the Chiefs until the clock runs down to zero.
