It’s going to be an interesting offseason for the Buffalo Bills next month. General manager Brandon Beane is going to have to make some tough decisions and there is a chance that this roster will look very different once again. The good news though, is that they do not have a horrible salary cap situation like they did last offseason.
With a couple of moves that the Bills could make pre and post June 1st, they should be able to make some cap space but they may have to do a lot more pre-June 1st if they want to keep some of their pending free agents.
It’s unlikely that the Bills keep a majority of their big-named free agents, but Brandon Beane usually brings back some fan-favorites and under-the-radar impactful players each offseason. There are five pending free agents for the Bills that would most likely be back in Orchard Park for 2025 and beyond.
Who is most likely to re-sign with Bills?
LS Reid Ferguson
Having been with the Bills since 2017, Buffalo’s long snapper in Reid Ferguson has been consistent and the Bills have pretty much been perfect when it comes the long snap to get the punt off. Unless Ferguson decides to not come back to Buffalo himself, more than likely he will be back with the Bills.
S Damar Hamlin
You could lean either way with Damar Hamlin coming back to the Bills, but don’t surprised if the Bills made an aggressive offer to bring him back to Buffalo. Hamlin is a fan-favorite in Buffalo and has come a long way to be a solid starter since going into cardiac arrest in January, 2023 live on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin became a full-time starter this year due to multiple injuries in the safety room and produced a solid year for Buffalo’s defense. He recorded his first career interception in Week 3 and there were multiple times where he led the team in tackles. Even though Cole Bishop is in line to be a starter and Taylor Rapp has two years left on his contract, Hamlin has a good chance at coming back to the team.
OL Alec Anderson
Much like Spencer Brown, Alec Anderson is always one of the first players to defend their teammates if a scuffle breaks out. Being used as the extra offensive lineman this season, Anderson contributed to helping James Cook reach his second consecutive 1,000+ rushing yard season.
Anderson is very underrated and the Bills do whatever they can to bring depth back no matter what. He should be back with the Bills no matter what.
DL Jordan Phillips
He said it himself, Jordan Phillips loves being in Buffalo in front of Bills Mafia. His production is better when he is with the Bills than elsewhere. Buffalo had a tough time stopping the run this year and they decided to bring back Phillips and Quinton Jefferson in the middle of the season to bring some sort of stability.
Phillips has to be brought back to Buffalo for just one more season. He’s a true run-stopper and the Bills need to help develop DeWayne Carter to become one himself behind Phillips.
WR Mack Hollins
If there was one free agent signing that Brandon Beane got right last year, it was Mack Hollins. He led the Bills in receiving touchdowns (5) and was a fantastic run-blocker. He showed that he has one of the best personalities in the entire NFL and he is a true locker room guy. It would be a gigantic mistake for Buffalo to let Hollins walk.
