Buffalo Bills' bye week couldn't have come at a more perfect time
By Brandon Ray
There is an argument to be made that outside of the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills are playing the best football in the NFL. After dropping back-to-back games and sitting at 3-2 at one point, the Bills have ripped off six consecutive wins and have knocked off the Chiefs’ undefeated streak this past Sunday. Currently at 9-2, the Bills have ran away with the AFC East and it’s just a matter of when they will officially clinch the division.
Buffalo is heading into their bye week this weekend so Bills Mafia can enjoy a stress-less weekend. While they will be getting an extra week to get ready for the San Francisco 49ers on December 1st, Sean McDermott may get a huge boost in health on the roster.
The bye week could not have come at a more perfect time for Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been affected by injuries all year long. It seems like they cannot catch a break, but their next man up mentality has been in their favor. When one player goes down, the next one comes up and keeps the continuity.
This all started when star linebacker Matt Milano tore his bicep in mandatory minicamp. Since then, they have had injuries in the secondary and then the wide receiver room was hit with some injuries.
Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper both had wrist injuries themselves to the points where neither player in Week 10 against the Indianapolis Colts, and Cooper was limited this past week against the Chiefs. There is a hopeful chance that both players will be back for Week 13 against the 49ers.
As for Milano, the Bills opened up the 21-day practice window for him so they must feel comfortable that they will get him back on defense very soon. If they didn’t open it up, then they wouldn’t have felt as if he would return before the playoffs.
With this bye week coming up for the Bills, this allowed Cooper, Coleman and Milano to get healthy and bring the Bills back to full strength for the remainder of the season and the playoffs. It is a crucial time to be as healthy as possible and the Bills should heavily benefit from this setup.
