After beating the Buffalo Bills last Saturday in overtime that led to the firing of Sean McDermott, the Denver Broncos have now been eliminated as they lost to the New England Patriots, who are now Super Bowl to represent the AFC. No one would have thought that Denver and New England would have been the teams to represent the conference in the game, but here we are.
Now, there are two ways to look at this for Bills fans. First, the fact that the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl in Mike Vrabel’s first year as the head coach is extremely scary. New England is back and Buffalo is officially no longer the top team in the division, let alone the conference.
Secondly, this Broncos’ loss just gave the Bills the opportunity to interview one of the top candidates in this head coaching cycle, Davis Webb. The Broncos’ offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach has been pinned as a top coaching candidate in this cycle, and Adam Schefter reported that the Bills want to talk with Webb about their HC vacancy.
With Denver out of the playoffs officially, the Bills can now speak with Webb.
Bills can now request to talk with Davis Webb with Denver's playoff loss
The Bills have interviewed 7 candidates already, and Webb could very well become the next one. He knows the Bills, being a former player with them. Plus, he knows Josh Allen very well as he was a backup of his back in the early 2020s.
He just joined the coaching world not too long ago with the Broncos and the fact that he is getting potential looks at becoming a head coach already is wild. It shows the respect that he has gained up to this point.
The Bills’ decision to hire a head coach could very well be this week, unless they want to talk to another candidate whose season is still continuing. However, talking with Webb might very well be the final candidate the Bills speak with. Only time will tell.
