Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills will be able to make their first selection of the 2026 NFL Draft after they traded back three times and eventually went out of the first round. The Bills racked up extra draft capital, and will now have atleast one pick in every round for today and tomorrow.

With the Bills set to pick at No. 35 tonight, they will have their choices to bring in a prospect that they feel great about. Some may say to go with offense and get another receiver, but the Bills have more needs on defense to address and it would be smart for them to go after either a linebacker or edge rusher.

Well, for any fans that have that same mindset, Beane may have just revealed his plans on what he could do going into the second round tonight.

Fans may have just learned a plan that Brandon Beane has up his sleeve

Prior to the first round, Bills reporter Matthew Bove sat down with Beane and talked about how the defense going into a new scheme could possibly mean adding more defensive help for Jim Leonhard. Bove specifically asked about what the edge rushers look like to Beane. However, Beane took a route that should have Bills fans very curious.

I do think there’s some guys. I think there is some depth there, starting in Round 1 and kind of moving down. We’ll see how that falls, but I think there could be some opportunities. Can’t tell you in which round necessarily, we’ll have to see how it falls. I do think there is depth there. I think there’s some inside backers too this year, I would say that’s a deeper class. There’s some safeties in this class as well.” said Beane.

Bove pointed out those specific positions from his interview, and it makes you wonder if Beane has his eyes on a certain prospect. If Buffalo goes with an inside linebacker like a Jacob Rodriguez or CJ Allen, it would bring stability into the middle of the defense. With Buffalo needing more linebacker help, this seems like the scenario that Bills fans should be wishing for.

As for the safeties, the Bills are all set in the short-term future. However, they only signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Smith to one-year deals each. They may be looking for a long-term solution to pair with Cole Bishop.

No matter how you look at it, defense should be the main priority for the Bills in the second round. With a new scheme under a new defensive coordinator, they are going to need to give Jim Leonhard a fighting chance to make something great and it starts in the second round later tonight.
