The Buffalo Bills have been dealing with a lot of injuries throughout the summer and quite frankly, it’s getting a little worrisome. The latest notable injury that occurred this past week in practice involved cornerback Tre’Davious White, who went down with a leg injury and had “hopped off the field on one leg” on Thursday, per Sal Capaccio.
With Max Hairston still recovering from a knee injury he suffered prior to the start of the preseason, this was a troubling update as White was having a strong camp and was looking to become the Bills’ CB2 opposite of Christian Benford.
Well, that may not happen for a while now as Brandon Beane delivered an injury update on White and it isn’t good whatsoever. According to Carl Jones, Beane told Bills Kickoff Live that White is dealing with a “lower leg injury” and that there is “no timeline on his return to the field.
Later on, according to Alaina Getzenberg, Beane also said that they are "still deciding if CB Maxwell Hairston will start the season on IR or not."
Bills are in major trouble at cornerback ahead of regular season
This was not the news that Bills fans were hoping for regarding White. Already on just a one-year deal, White has to prove that he can still be a serviceable corner. Early on in his career with the Bills, White established himself as a true lockdown cornerback but then injuries came into play and he hasn’t been the same player since.
Buffalo released him last offseason, and he spent time with the Rams and Ravens before rejoining the Bills. Now fans may not see him for sometime going into the regular season.
With this injury update, don’t be surprised if players like Dane Jackson and Ja’Marcus Ingram get some major playing time for the first couple weeks of the regular season. However, that is a major problem if that becomes the reality.
