This is shaping up to be one of the more notable NFL trade deadlines in recent memory. The Seattle Seahawks traded for Quenton Nelson, the San Francisco 49ers traded for DeForest Buckner and the Houston Texans traded for Marvin Harrison Jr., just to name a few.
However, all of those are much smaller deals compared to one that just got dropped. The Tennessee Titans that they are trading star defensive tackle to Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears for two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
This is a massive in-season trade, and it's something that the Buffalo Bills have to think about now.
Bills' Week 15 matchup just got scarier
With Caleb Williams healthy, the Bears are one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL. The biggest knock on them is that their defense hasn't been any good. Simmons isn't just some guy. He's one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL.
He has made three All-Pro teams, including First-Team All-Pro last season. He has game-wrecking ability, but he's been wasting away on a bad Titans team. He'll now have a chance to play meaningful games, which could unlock him even further.
The Bills have to play the Bears in Week 15. That game was already going to be tough, but now it's looking more difficult. Now, the game will be in Buffalo, which is a big advantage for the Bills, but it won't be so easy for James Cook to have a big game.
The Bills' offensive line has done well this season, but Simmons is good against everybody. The Week 15 matchup against the Bears could even be a Super Bowl preview, so it's going to be a fascinating game to watch, especially if the Bills can pull off a trade.
Are Bills going to make a move?
With so many hopeful contenders swinging big trades, the Bills may start feeling the pressure to make something happen. Most of the impactful trades have been happening in the NFC, but what if the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs or Baltimore Ravens are able to land a big name?
The Bills can't afford to stand by and see what everybody else does. Buffalo doesn't necessarily need to trade two first-round picks for a guy like Maxx Crosby. They could also go for older veterans like Khalil Mack for Budda Baker, who should cost less in a trade.
The Bills need to do something to upgrade the defense, or it's difficult to see how they can realistically win the Super Bowl with so many other teams loading up.
