It’s still very tough to accept that not only the Buffalo Bills lost on Sunday, but that they were demolished by the Miami Dolphins. This loss was worse than their two other losses against the Patriots and Falcons. It’s very unlikely that the Bills and Dolphins meet again this season, and it’s a bit of a sour taste that this performance will be remembered until they play again next season.
The Bills lost the turnover battle, couldn’t get any separation on the outside from the receivers, and the rushing attack couldn’t get anything going. Overall, it seemed like the Bills just simply didn’t show up prepared and they were destroyed.
This game is really pushing the Bills towards “pretenders” instead of “contenders”. Even with a winning record at 6-3, this team doesn’t feel like a championship team. It feels more like a wild card team where they could have a bad matchup and lose for yet another early playoff exit.
This team has had Super Bowl aspirations for a long time. Yet, they haven’t been to the biggest game of them all. Buffalo is slowly becoming a team that is going into the “What If” tier.
Bills drop down in power rankings after bad Week 10 loss
After their 30-13 loss, the Bills now find themselves near the middle of the pack in a power rankings list provided by Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone. Scataglia has the Bills ranked at No. 13.
"Bad. Ugly. Terrible. The Buffalo Bills do this a couple of times a year, so I guess they got one of these out of the way after Week 10. It was a horrendous loss to the Miami Dolphins, and I think it’s time we stop looking at the Bills as being a legitimate contender. Heck, this team might not even win the division this year, so let’s pump the brakes."Lou Scataglia, NFL Spin Zone
For as direct as this is, it’s not the worst take considering what the Bills have shown this season. In their six wins, they’ve only had two wins that were truly dominant games (Jets, Panthers). The rest have been closer than they should have, and it’s taken some luck to pull out the win.
Now you might be thinking, 13th overall isn’t the worst spot. However, with the way the Bills have built themselves up and have been so close to making it to the Super Bowl, being ranked out of the top ten over halfway through the season is a bit unacceptable.
Hopefully the Bills can turn things around against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this coming Sunday because if they don’t, we may have to start the conversation about the Bills potentially missing out on the playoffs.
