If Joe Brady leaves Buffalo, the Bills' most obvious replacement just became available

This would make too much sense not to happen.

The Buffalo Bills have been mostly fortunate to have great offensive coordinators helping Josh Allen since he joined the team in 2017. Allen, a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, entered the league with Rick Dennison as his offensive coordinator.

When it was clear that the team would need to go in a different direction, Brian Daboll was brought in during the 2018 offseason and his connection with Allen didn't immediately get off to the right start. By 2019, however, Allen and the Bills offense started to play better and by 2020, they had finished the year second in total offensive yards and in points scored. In 2021, dropped to fifth and third respectively in those stats but it was clear that Daboll and Allen had the chemistry the offense needed.

Unfortunately, Daboll was hired by the New York Giants as their head coach for the 2022 season, a job he held until Monday morning. The Giants made the decision to fire Daboll after he went 20-40-1 in three and a half years on the job. He'll now be looking for a new gig next year and the Bills could end up having one for him.

After the Bills moved on from Ken Dorsey as their offensive coordinator in 2023, Joe Brady took over in that role. Brady is most known for being LSU's passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2019, the same year the Tigers won the National Championship. He's done wonders as the Bills OC, helping Allen win his first-ever MVP nod in the 2024 season.

The problem with helping a quarterback have a season like that means that teams will start to look at you as a potential head coach option. Brady could be in that category now, especially with LSU's head coaching position open for next year.

The perfect Joe Brady replacement (if he's poached) just hit the market

This would make a ton of sense given Daboll and Allen's success together before. Daboll is out of a job and the Bills could also be searching for a new offensive coordinator if Brady continues to look like an attractive head coach candidate to college and/or NFL teams next year.

There is a "well, hang on" factor here though. A few years ago when the Bills and Giants played, many people couldn't help but notice the iciness between Daboll and Sean McDermott when the two met at half field after the game. This could potentially be why Daboll doesn't return to Buffalo if the Bills were to lose Brady and needed a new OC.

This will still be something to monitor though. Where will Daboll end up next? If the Bills had a chance to pair Allen with him again, it'd make a lot of sense to do so.
