As dominant as the Buffalo Bills have been at the start of the season, they have some clear weaknesses that need to be addressed sooner than later. Obviously, their defense has been among one of the worst, especially against the run. The secondary has been banged up and inconsistent as well.
There’s only been one game (Week 2 vs. Jets) where the defense held their ground and helped the team play complimentary football. Other than that, the offense has had to carry the team to wins.
With the New England Patriots coming to town this Sunday night for an under-the-lights battle, the Bills will have a tough challenge overall. While the Patriots are still in a bit of a rebuild, they are 2-2 and Drake Maye is looking like a true franchise quarterback for them. Not to mention, Stefon Diggs makes his return to Buffalo for the first time since being traded away last year.
While there will be a bunch of excitement with all of the headlines that are going to be focused on, that is where a lot of under-the-radar players can make a big impact, whether it’s for Buffalo or New England.
Bills have tough task ahead of them in Week 5 (and it's being overlooked)
One underrated weapon that the Patriots have coming into this game is defensive back Marcus Jones, who is a special teams stud and was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 4. Against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, Jones had 167 punt return yards which included an 87-yard touchdown return, per Sal Capaccio.
Patriots DB Marcus Jones has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after having 3 PR for 167 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown. Bills will have to be very aware of Jones in the return game. He currently leads the NFL with 28.9 yards/return.

The Bills cannot afford to let Jones run wild and pick up great yardage for the Pats’ offense, or even worse, take a punt/kick to the house. The Patriots are one of those teams where if it is a back-and-forth game, one little mistake could be the difference maker.
Seeing as how the Bills have been in close games this season, they shouldn’t be testing that luck in hopes that a miracle can push them to 5-0 on the season. They need to play complimentary football in all three phases and not give the Patriots any shot at winning this game.
