The offensive line for the Buffalo Bills has been one of the best units that the team has had in recent memory, and no one can deny that. Are they the best unit in the entire league? No, but they are Top 10 at worst. There has been a lot of continuity and they have helped protect Josh Allen. In fact, they played a huge role in Allen winning his first MVP award from the 2024 season.
Two players that stick as some of the best upfront for Allen are his tackles in Dion Dawkins on the left, and Spencer Brown on the right. Dawkins has been the team’s franchise left tackle since 2017 and he has been a consistent blocker and great in pass protection. On the other hand, Brown has vastly improved his pass protection but has always been a phenomenal run blocker.
Even though Bills Mafia knows how important they are to the Bills, this duo still doesn’t get the respect that they deserve.
Dion Dawkins & Spencer Brown get disrespected in latest ESPN rankings
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler put together a list of the best offensive tackles per executives, coaches, and scouts going into 2026, and neither Dawkins or Brown made it into the Top 10. Dawkins did receive an honorable mention, and Brown also did get some votes.
""A solid starter, plays with an edge, can be good in both phases but shows inconsistent effort."-- NFC executive , per Jeremy Fowler.
Despite the consistency from Dawkins since his rookie year, and Brown evolving as one of the better right tackles in the game, they continue to be overlooked even though they are a main reason why Allen can make the plays that he does.
I would even argue that because the Bills have had to depend more on Dawkins, Brown, and the whole offensive line the last two years because the support around Josh Allen at the wide receiver position has been average at best. So, they needed to give Allen more time to let the play develop in order to move the ball down the field.
Going into this year, the offensive line has a new coach in Pat Meyer, but he has worked with Aaron Kromer in the past which helps with continuity. As long as both Dawkins and Brown stay healthy and on the field, they will continue to be some of the best protectors that the league has.
