Like any other team that goes through a ton of changes, the Buffalo Bills faced a ton of criticism for some of their decisions that they made this past offseason. The main headline took place just two days after the Bills’ divisional round loss to the Denver Broncos, when Sean McDermott was fired.
When Joe Brady was chosen as his replacement, that was just the first of the domino effect. That meant that a new coaching staff was coming into play, and then there would eventually be some roster changes.
Even though change can be scary and create an uneasy feeling, the Bills managed to take care a lot of issues that they were facing in recent memory. First off, their best addition this entire offseason was hiring Jim Leonhard as their new defensive coordinator. With his experience he had gained with the Denver Broncos the last couple of years, Leonhard will be looking to make his case for why he should become a head coach sooner than later.
Then you look at the additions that Buffalo made on the roster; bringing in guys like DJ Moore, Bradley Chubb, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Geno Stone, and Dee Alford. Not to mention, they brought in a lot of young talent through the draft that included T.J. Parker, Davison Igbinosun, Skyler Bell, and Kaleb Elarms-Orr.
The defense revamped for the better, and the offense got their new No. 1 receiver in DJ Moore. There’s no doubt that Buffalo had an impactful offseason despite all the changes, but it’s not getting the recognition that is deserving.
Bills' offseason gets completely ignored (and fans should be upset)
Josh Edwards from CBS Sports ranked the Top 10 teams who had the best offseasons, but Buffalo was left off of it. What?!
To say that the Bills didn’t have one of the best offseasons is absolutely ridiculous. Even with all of their changes, the Bills delivered answers to questions that they had after their 2025 season ended. Not to mention, they kept a little bit of continuity with hiring Joe Brady who knows Josh Allen very well.
Then you add in the defensive revamp under an up-and-coming great defensive mind in Jim Leonhard.
Buffalo may not have made the most popular decisions this offseason, but they made impactful ones that should help them go further than they have in recent memory.
