It’s been a tough couple of days for the Buffalo Bills and their fans after their Week 5 Sunday night loss to the New England Patriots. The Bills played as bad as they could at home, but they still only lost 23-20 after the Patriots kicked a go-ahead field goal with less than 20 seconds on the clock. However, if we are being honest, with the way the Bills were playing, they didn’t deserve to win.
Buffalo had 3 turnovers and 11 accepted penalties against them. The offense looked bad and the defense crumbled in crucial moments. The good news is that they are still at the top of the AFC East, but they have no room now because the Patriots are right behind them and now they have the tiebreaker on Buffalo.
Going into Week 6 at 4-1, the Bills are back on the road for the first time since Week 2 and they will be in Atlanta taking a 2-2 Falcons team that is coming off their bye week. Buffalo will be looking to get back into the win column before their bye week which is right after Monday Night Football.
Even though it’s a tough week for Bills fans based on what happened against the Patriots, it’s one game and it doesn’t take away the fact that the Bills are still the best team in the AFC, maybe even in the whole league.
Bills' Week 5 loss doesn't affect their true power ranking spot
Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone put together an AFC power rankings list going into Week 6 and Scataglia has the Bills at the top of the list, which is where they still belong…for now.
"The loss against the New England Patriots at home was bad, but the Buffalo Bills are probably still the best team in the AFC right now, but you could convince me that another team is deserving of that title. Buffalo does have an easier schedule this year and should be able to win 13 or 14 games, perhaps locking up the top seed in the AFC playoffs."Lou Scataglia, NFL Spin Zone
We have to remember that the Patriots are a divisional opponent and division games are always close and tough. Even without having Tom Brady since 2020, the Patriots have always played tough against the Bills. One game shouldn’t be the reason why the Bills are doubted.
Now, they need to correct their mistakes and clean up their play in Week 6. If they continue to play the way they have the last two games, then it’s time to start panicking.
