Say what you want, but the Buffalo Bills have themselves a problem on the defense. Yes, the secondary hasn’t looked great this year, but their play has been affected by what’s going on in front of them with the linebacker group.

You could make the case that the Bills' linebacker core is their biggest liability. Terrel Bernard has looked awful, Dorian Williams is a great run-stopper but he can't play great coverage, and Kaleb Elarms-Orr has had limited action. Not to mention, Joe Andreessen is more of a special teams guy rather than playing on the defense.

Bills have improvements to make on defense (and there is one path they could take)

We are still a couple of weeks away from the NFL's trade deadline, but the Bills should be exploring different paths when it comes to making trades to improve them going into the second half of the season. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report listed various positions that the Bills could use improvement in, along with potential trade candidates.

One of those players that Gagnon listed is LB Mack Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals:

"The Cardinals are clearly far from a competitive window. Wilson is an eight-year veteran wrapping up a three-year contract. He's unlikely to be part of this rebuild when he turns 29 this offseason, but he'd bring plenty of physicality to Buffalo while improving the defense's ability to cover tight ends." said Gagnon.

Potential trade for Mack Wilson gives Bills another LB option (and at a low paying price)

Wilson used to play against the Bills back when he was with the New England Patriots from 2022-2023. He signed with the Cardinals in 2024, bringing a physical factor to Arizona along with the ability to drop back into coverage in the flat or against tight ends.

It's similar to the playstyle that Matt Milano had when he was with the Bills, and it's hard to deny the fact that Buffalo could use help at linebacker.

The Cardinals are in a rebuild under new head coach Mike LaFleur, and while they are competitive, they aren't anywhere near being contenders. If the Cardinals continue to lose as the trade deadline approaches, the Bills should look to see if the Cardinals are willing to part ways with him at a cheap price.

Buffalo paying Arizona compensation such as a 5th round pick isn't a bad investment at all. Heck, maybe the Bills could get Wilson and a 6th round pick in exchange for a 5th rounder.
