The 2025 season could be a very bad one for a Buffalo Bills division rival, the Miami Dolphins. I mean, they technically are rivals but because the Dolphins have only beaten the Bills twice since Josh Allen came into the league, it’s not necessarily a rivalry from the Bills’ perspective.

When you look at the AFC East going into this season, the Bills and the New England Patriots should be the top two teams but the Patriots are not on the Bills’ level. Maybe in a couple of years they will be, but not now.

The New York Jets are starting brand new with a new regime at general manager, head coach, and quarterback. Despite having a solid defense, they aren’t expected to make much noise.

As for the Miami Dolphins, they are not exactly in a rebuild but they are far from being a championship contender. They have more continuity than the Jets, but Miami lost a lot of talent this offseason especially on defense in the secondary. The Dolphins have made a defensive signing ahead of the season, but at the wrong position.

Dolphins made the wrong defensive signing ahead of 2025 season

According to Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins have made a defensive free agent signing with edge rusher Matthew Judon. Tom Pelissero would then report that it was a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.

The Dolphins didn’t need edge rusher help, they needed a cornerback desperately. After trading away Jalen Ramsey in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, you would think that Miami would be looking for another corner.

While having someone like Judon isn’t a bad addition, it doesn’t solve a major need for the Dolphins. However, it’s a great thing for Bills fans because this just means that Buffalo’s passing attack can continue to thrive against the Dolphins’ secondary.
