When the Bills and Chiefs square off against each other this Sunday, the biggest storyline is going to be the battle of the quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Buffalo is looking to win their sixth consecutive game while the Chiefs are seeking to stay undefeated and reach 10-0.
Even though this Chiefs team is not as dominant as they have been, they are still the best team to beat. Whether they win by double digits or one point, they are what their record says they are.
Now granted, it’s a matter of time before the Chiefs lose. They should have taken their first loss last Sunday had it not been for a luck blocked field goal as time expired against the Broncos. Luck was on their side, but that may not be the case this week in Buffalo.
However, in order for the Bills to pull the “upset” on the Chiefs, they are going to need a specific defensive star to step up and make an impact from start to finish. Defensive end Greg Rousseau currently leads the Bills in sacks (5.5) and QB hits (16) and his impact will be more important than it has ever been.
Greg Rousseau has to be an x-factor vs. Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes has been sacked 20 times and their offensive tackle situation is not great. This is a great opportunity for Rousseau to add to that number. Last offseason, the Bills picked up Rousseau’s fifth-year option on his rookie deal, keeping him in Buffalo for atleast one more year after this season.
Not only his Rousseau leading the Bills in sacks, but he has been able to consistently create pressure on the outside. With the way that Mahomes can scramble out of the pocket, that is where Rousseau is going to need to force mistakes and rattle Mahomes.
Overall, Buffalo is going to need to play all-around nearly perfect football to walk off as winners in Week 11. Rousseau needs to become the star of the game and be a major reason as to why the Bills end Kansas City’s undefeated streak.
