Bills reportedly doing their due diligence to gain help for Super Bowl run

The Buffalo Bills have reportedly contacted the New Orleans Saints about trading WR Chris Olave at the trade deadline. He's not the only wide receiver Brandon Beane has his eyes on.

The Buffalo Bills are in need of some help at several positions, from wide receiver to safety. The NFL trade deadline is only a few days away, and the team has reportedly reached out about multiple receivers. Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, sources state the team has showed significant interest in pursuing the WR position. It's undoubtedly a need for the Bills, who's receivers are amongst the league's least glamourous.

A Chris Olave Trade

Chris Olave is the biggest name publicly reported on, and a receiver who would make a substantial difference. He's third in the NFL in catches, despite the cavalcade of quarterbacks that lead the New Orleans Saints this season. With three touchdowns and over 500 receiving yards so far this season, Olave outstrips the Buffalo Bills best pass-catchers.

Having Olave would add a level to the Bills they seem to be missing. A consistent receiver who can separate better than anyone on the roster, Olave is a definitive upgrade. Olave is athletic, healthy, and playing in the final season of his rookie contract before his fifth-year option kicks in. A team trading for him picks up a hefty $15.5m contract for 2026, but it can be fixed with an extension. For 2025, he'll cost only a few million dollars to finish the season; More than worthy of his skillset.

His evaluation sits at a probable 2nd-round draft pick, or something thereabouts. Considering his impact and the option to retain him, that's a good trade.

Staying Aggressive

The Buffalo Bills aren't done though. Much like in recent years, Brandon Beane is aggressive at the trade deadline. Another confirmed name the Bills have called about trading for is Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders. Meyers is on the final year of his 3-year $33m contract with Vegas, and is an unrestricted free agent after the season. For now, He's due a chunk of change to finish the year, estimated at $6m.

Meyers is another valuable player rotting on a franchise that won't see the sun this postseason. On the Bills offense, he becomes an immediate contributor as Buffalo competes for a championship. The Bills have made calls about several contributing plays at the deadline, so stay tuned.
