The Buffalo Bills are coming off a big win over the Jacksonville Jaguars to advance in the playoffs, but it didn’t come without a little bit of a big loss moving forward. During the game, wide receiver Gabe Davis was hit after attempting to catch a ball from Josh Allen and he was hit right in the knee, and he didn’t play another down in the game.

He was eventually carted off to the locker room which was not a great sign for the Bills. Now, Buffalo has learned some terrible news going into this weekend’ games against the Denver Broncos.

According to Mike Garafolo, Sean McDermott reported that Davis suffered a torn ACL and now he will miss the rest of the playoffs.

Bills' WR room takes a massive hit with Gabe Davis news

If you would have told me before this season started that losing Gabe Davis in the playoffs would be a big deal for Buffalo, I wouldn’t have believed you. Yet, the Bills, who already are very weak at the position, now lose someone who has great chemistry with Josh Allen and can block defenders on the outside to help the rushing attack.

The Bills will now have to find someone to take Davis’ spot for the playoffs which could be very tricky.

While Buffalo did receive this bad news, Sal Capaccio reported that the Bills did open up the 21-day window for both Ed Oliver and Curtis Samuel. So, the Bills get a receiver back in Samuel and could also get a boost on their defense with Oliver if he is ready to go.

While Buffalo may get some help back for the playoffs, losing Davis is bigger than fans may think. The Bills signed Davis to the practice squad prior to the season starting and he made his season debut back in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had made some great 3rd-down catches to keep the chains alive for Buffalo.

Going into this Saturday’s game against the Broncos, the Bills will now have to figure out how to make up for Davis’ absence, which was extremely overlooked.
