The Buffalo Bills have been overly busy during the early portion of NFL free agency, adding pieces all over the place and particularly on defense.

Recent signings like Larry Ogunjobi and the big name, Joey Bosa, could end up giving this defensive line a lift if all goes according to plan.

However, what's this Bills team without a guy the fan base has grown especially close to over the past few seasons?

The Bills officially re-sign safety Damar Hamlin on a 1-year contract

Buffalo announced they had officially re-signed safety Damar Hamlin to a 1-year deal on Wednesday.

Truly, what would this Bills team be without Hamlin? Talk about one player who has become an integral part of this team's culture; he's one of those "heart and soul" guys, and for good. There is no way you could overstate his impact on this team to this point.

In just four short years, Hamlin has become a poster of what resilience, humanity, kindness and grit means. He is a true fighter and one of the best human beings you will come across.

Bills fans couldn't imagine seeing him in another uniform at this point. Whether or not his game is at the level required to be a bonafide starter in this league could still be up for debate, although he did start a career-high 14 games last year for the Bills.

Of course, you cannot talk about Hamlin without mentioning the root of his recent impact. It's a story that's talked about way too often, but at the same time, not enough.

His on-field scare in January of 2023 will go down as one of the most terrifying instances ever witnessed on a football field. However, what he was able to do after the event is even more incredible.

Hamlin has been an inspiration to countless individuals, Bills fan or not.

There's just no way Buffalo could allow him to suit up in another uniform; not yet, at least. He's back with the Bills.
