Last night, the Buffalo Bills made a splash by signing edge rusher Joey Bosa who spent nine years with the Los Angeles Chargers. Now they are kicking off the official day where free agent signings can become official, by agreeing to terms to defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi to a one-year, $8.3 million deal with $8 million guaranteed. The deal also built-in incentives that could give Ogunjobi $10 million, per Ian Rapoport.

Ogunjobi has spent his whole career in the AFC North with the Cleveland Browns Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers, but will now come to the AFC East to join forces with Joey Bosa. Having been relatively healthy throughout his career, Ogunjobi provides much needed stability for the Bills’ defensive line and will have the chance to help make life easier for Ed Oliver.
Last season with the Steelers, Ogunjobi posted 41 total tackles and 1.5 sacks, along with 7 QB hits. Pittsburgh is notorious for having solid defensive line production and Ogunjobi was able to produce.
Throughout his career, Ogunjobi has recorded 361 total tackles, 27.5 sacks, and 79 QB hits. Plugging him into the middle of the defensive line to go with Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, DeWayne Carter, and Michael Hoecht is a solid rotation for Bobby Babich’s defense. With the Bills running a 4-2-5 scheme, Buffalo needs to be able to contain the run. Ogunjobi provides immediate stability, but they should still address that unit in the draft.
Bills continue to address to help out defensive line
Last season, the Bills’ biggest liability was stopping the run. There were times where running backs made Buffalo’s defense look foolish on the ground and you can make the argument that most of the Bills’ losses were because of their inability to stop the run.
Beane continues to address the defensive line and this should excite Bills fans. Now they just need to find a way to get some corner help. Maybe they will go more the route of bringing in defensive back help through the draft, but they need an immediate starter who can play opposite of Christian Benford.
