Bills now have the chance to gift Josh Allen with a monumental reunion

This could make a whole lot of sense.

The Buffalo Bills will be led by a new head coach in 2026. The Bills decided to finally move on from Sean McDermott after not reaching the Super Bowl yet again.

Who will be the next head coach for the Bills now that McDermott is out? NFL draft expert Todd McShay floated an idea that could make a ton of sense for Buffalo, who is searching for a new head coach for the first time since 2017 (and for the first time of the Josh Allen era).

McShay posted on X:

"Brian Daboll has the experience/relationship with Josh Allen. Played a role in Allen’s development and is one of the better offensive minds in football. Daboll grew up in the Buffalo area…"

Reuniting Josh Allen with Brian Daboll makes too much sense not to happen

Some Bills fans might be a bit worried about Daboll potentially being the hire here due to how his Giants tenure played out. I definitely understand that line of thinking considering Daboll went 20-40-1 in his three and a half years on the job in New York but when you break it down a little more, it might help calm those nerves a bit.

Daboll won Coach of the Year for his efforts during his first year on the job in the Big Apple. He helped lead the Giants to a 9-7-1 record where they won a playoff game and looked formidable. Unfortunately for him and Giants fans, Daniel Jones regressed mightily after that 2022 season and that tanked the Giants' chances as a result.

For the next two and a half years in New York, Daboll didn't have a reliable quarterback that he could lean on and he was shown the door after Week 10 this season. Daboll had a ton of success when he was the Bills OC, however, and worked directly with Josh Allen. If the Bills can bring him back to Buffalo in the form of their next head coach and reunite him with Allen, it could make all the sense in the world.

If the Bills were to hire Daboll, sure there are going to be people dunking on them for it given how things ended for him with the Giants. But the problem during his time in New York was clearly that he didn't have the quarterback that could run his offense efficiently. That wouldn't be a problem if he got the Bills head coaching job.

Why not give this a shot? We know Daboll and Allen work well together and the Bills need a new mindset running the show. Daboll is definitely a different mindset than McDermott so this could actually work out well if this is the route the Bills decided to go in.
